When it comes to CNA training and getting your CNA certification, you
are going to need an education in both, the classroom setting and the real world, so you can get hands on
experience.
You can usually find CNA certification classes in three separate
settings:
- Community colleges
- Universities
- Medical Facilities
Usually the programs consist of 100-120 hours of total education (in the class and
on-the-job training). You are going to need certain skills to do this kind of job. You need to feel comfortable to
feed and bathe elderly people, using medical equipment, handle emergency procedures.
CNAs will also need to learn CPR, if you haven’t done so, already.
The costs involved with getting your CAN certification will cost somewhere in the
range of $500 to $900. If you can’t afford the costs, you can still apply for some kind of financial aid. Interest
rates for financial aid loans cheaper than ever before. You might also even be eligible for a grant, which is a
loan that you don’t have to pay back.
There is such a desperate need for nurses nowadays that you may find some medical
facilities that will pay for all of your CNA training, in return you sign a contract to work with them. Be careful
with this, though. Most companies that offer this kind of deal require you to stay with them for at least 6 months
after you get your CNA certification. So, it’s important to make sure you do this with a reputable
company.
Obviously economic conditions, right now are very tough. A Certified Nursing
Assistant is one of the few jobs that are very HIGH in demand. Most people would love to have the kind of job
security that CNAs have. You can find employment in any city or state.
Also, should you choose to get your RN license, many employers will pay for your
education.
The bottom line is that CNAs have great job security, employment opportunities,
flexible schedules, education reimbursements, future opportunities, etc….
